RANDONNÉE AU PIED DES GORGES D’HÉRIC

This guided hike immerses you in the heart of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Nature Park, at the foot of the Gorges d'Héric and the Caroux massif. The route follows ancient communication routes, witness to the movement of people over thousands of years. Through centuries-old holm oaks and chestnut groves, the guide reveals the history of the first inhabitants, the ancient uses of the land and the traces left by human activities.
The hike also provides a fascinating and accessible insight into the geological bedrock of the Montagne Noire and Caroux, a UNESCO World Geopark.
The route, which is largely shaded, is 10 km long with a 300 m vertical drop, and is suitable for experienced walkers. The outing concludes with an aperitif featuring local produce, a convivial moment to chat and enjoy the natural surroundings.
